Qur'an told Prophet saw to tell those people " profit is halal but riba is haram".. im glad ur aware? of this critical point. usury n paper money go hand in hand, so an economic system cannot be totally Islamic until it removes both elements ie currency notes (they dont have intrinsic value) and riba (which is any addition/increase in original amount).
